The Advocacy Interns will work closely with the IWAY2 Health Educators and take the lead in spreading awareness about the community’s unmet needs regarding traumatic events and stress.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this internship is to

  • Create social media posts about individual and community action to promote and spread awareness on trauma-informed care & prevention

  • Contact government representatives and other policy decision-makers to inform them about trauma-informed care and prevention

  • Identify and develop an advocacy campaign for policy changes regarding AAAI trauma-informed care and prevention

  • Propose a new project not listed above in collaboration with project staff

Projects the interns will be working on

  • Youth art showcase

  • Peer support groups

  • Outreach (tabling at local communities, promoting programs/services offered)

  • Design merch (sweaters, stickers, etc)

  • Creating podcast or vlogs relating to mental health in youths
